Contemporary Issues
We
live in a day and time when it seems as if life is too quickly
passing us by. Everything appears to be changing. Governments
come and go. Those whom we fight wars against today suddenly
become our friends tomorrow, whereas our friends often turn
against us. Churches of all kinds are either advancing by
leaps and bounds or are rapidly retreating. The music we
sang a generation or two ago in church gatherings is now
passé in many churches in favor of what we hope will
reach this generation. Even the Bible has and is undergoing
changes. The old King James Version of yesteryear can hardly
be found today in favor of ever newer versions and translations.
Subjects that at one time were taboo in the pulpit are now
contemporary issues being addressed in many churches. Traditions
are being left behind. Whether this is good or bad only
time will tell.
Not
wanting to be left behind some of us believe that it is
vital for the spiritual health of both believers in Christ
as well as in our assemblies that what we view as “contemporary
issues” be addressed. In surfing Christian and religious
web sites on the internet one will quickly discover that
there is little agreement or uniformity as to how these
issues are addressed. Each one is usually the opinion of
the individual or individuals addressing the issue. What
you will discover on this site is no exception to this.
The contemporary issues that will be addressed here are
largely the opinion of the author. You may or may not agree.
The hope and intent however, is to get Christians thinking
through some of these issues. As has already been addressed
in this site, the material that you will find here is unique
in some respects, hopefully it is challenging to action
and in some ways it is controversial. Our desire is not
to create division or party spirit in the Body of Christ,
rather to present how we view some of these issues. We do
not claim to have all of the answers to every issue being
addressed. Nor do we view everything strictly in terms of
being “black or white.” Rather, many issues
are not clearly defined in Scripture hence there are many
“gray” areas. So what you will find in this
section will be issues that you may or may not agree with.
We would like to receive your comments. We also have a number
of booklets available on these and many other subjects that
can be yours for the asking.
